You know... if you had just put the turbo in a better location and not cut a hole in the hood chances are there would be nothin but positive things said about the setup.. yeah it would be budget, but theres a fine line between budget and ghetto

First off, the ricers should really stick to commenting on aesthetics, rather than performance. Judging from the comments, most of you guys are either under the legal driving age, or have never ever done any serious modifications to any vehicle.

Second off, Mr.Steve I think you did a great job. Granted the project does have some rough edges, never the less I applaud your work. Get some current track footage, and shut these kids up.

Now some points of contention need to be addressed:
1) An LXN motor swap is not uncommon within the the RX7 community.
2) Weight savings, that is music to my ears. That fact alone makes such a swap well worth it. No replacement for displacement other than saving weight.
3) And finally it is time to face a long dark import secret: revving the heck out of your motor. With the LT1 your no longer waiting the extra second for the turbocharger to spool. The instant torque of the V8, along with the ability to spool a T76 like its a T25 on a 4g63, is very very appealing. I know most of you guys bust a nut when Vtec kicks in somewhere in the clouds, but the fact of the matter is that its just plain dumb to wait that long for power. Besides the fact that it makes for a goofy non-linear power curve, it also requires an extra measure of perception on a circuit. Ever have your turbo suddenly hit full boost while you just entered the apex of a reducing radius bend? NOT FUN! This is the same problems that F1 engineers faced back in the days of turbo motors. A straight and predictable power curve is always better.

Thats that.

BTW I don't own a domestic, and I will never own a domestic. I just happen to be someone who can empathize with someone who has clearly put in a lot of work into their vehicle. Something that most of you probably have never done, and never will.

Why in gods name are you swaping a rotory engine??? Just for info, a 2L rot ory engine can be build up to 1500 hp and run lower than 7s! Mazda isn't d esign to deal with V8 and you won't get better performace than with origin al Wankel. You could sell the V8 and get some bad az turbo or sell a rx an d get a engineless camaro or pontiac...
