The GTR owner may have owned a Cobb ECM, but may not have had it set off a factory map program. I ran an 11:5 dead flat stock several times. Or he may not have had replaced the exhaust. The factory exhaust is so restricted that it will not allow more air to flow regardless of the Cobb.

I myself find in embarasing that a car with DOUBLE the displacement and 900 lbs less could barley beat a stock GTR. Not to mention it cost $20,000 more and has over 100 more horse power. Was it not supposed to win? I have $10K in an exhaust and Cobb ECM and I am turning 10:9. Plus people have seen the viper for years and I hate to say it, but a lot of people see all those tails and they think ricer crap and just look away. I know they are functional on this car, but a lot of people are tired of seeing HONDAs and crap with these and look away. My GTR is still new and people are not used to it yet so it gets major looks and thumbs up. I like the ACR though.

Gonna have to agree with HandyMan on that one. I don't think the GTR would turn as many heads. You'd get noticed, but a Viper makes a pretty bold statement no matter where you go.

sometimes it's just nice to have the "in" car atm, the Vipers have a great, classic motor (although updated), but still has the same basic look as a viper always has, for a road car I reckon you'd get more looks in a GTR.

Four weeks ago at Bradenton Speedway a GT-R hit an 11.5... the driver claimed he wasn't using launch control. Personally I can't see one hitting that low without launch control, considering that one was stock.

Wheatgod, you have a good point. I'd expect more of a gap because of the sheer power but it's also a manual gearbox vs an automatic. I know everyone likes to make excuses for the cars and I'll make some assumptions here. It would definitely be close regardless but I think the gap should be a bit wider. On a roadcourse, the power-to-weight ratio and the weight distribution of the ACR would be superior to the GTR. Although the GTR has lightning-fast shifts and is almost entirely computer controlled, it still gets worked by a raw power, a manual gearbox, and computerless controls.
