most powerful diesel on the market is a 12v, 1451hp by chris werner i believe it was, that was spinning the tires on the dyno too... this rail has run 6.8 i think @ over 200mph...

very true about the area of a diesel intake being dangerous but this is because there is no throttle plate and the engine is at WOT all the time, not just because of high compression

Actually your wrong pal..^^^^^^^^^^^ its the 12v... that is all air and fuel.. with the 1175 Hp record set by maddog and his 95 ford F350 with a cummins 12v in it..! That dragsters is a a 24v.. 7 sec rail dragster..!

this is true a regular gas engine doesn't have enough compression where a d iesel has such much compression where if you stuck your hand by the carbur ator it would literally suck your hand in

ok, ok people, time for my two cents. diesels don't neccessarily need the turbo to run, but the diesel engine create little to no vacuum, as mos t of the power comes from the intense compression of the fuel alone, which is a more crude form of gasoline, or rather gas is a more refined version of the same product that diesel comes from. in the end, it's all just ref ined crude, but diesel is the first fuel to come out of it. the turbo adds the required amount of air into the diesel to boost the horsepower rating up from it's little numbers without one, but it's just as fine without a turbo. as any car nut knows, the more air you have, the more power you get , and a turbo is a prime example. another thing, the emissions of a diesel are almost non-existent compared to a gas engine, although you wouldn't k now just by looking. indeed, the black smoke looks dangerous, but it's rea lly just soot, the powdery black stuff that sticks to your chimney. yes di esels do produce a harmful substance that is known to cause cancer, but th at's because it's a type of oil. in fact, the same substance is found in m otor and gear oil, which is why you're supposed to clean off any oil you m ay have when working. other than these facts, it's about frikkin' time a d iesel was made into a rail, and a CUMMINS at that. frikkin' sweet. Not here in Boise, ID. I have a small emissions test. And the EPA does ha ve some strict emissions laws coming in 2007.
