LOL @ you morons for arguing over VTEC. Pretty much every car manufacturer uses some form of variable valve timing/lift. if you don't know the different types of variable valve lift/timing, the basic mechanics of how cams and lifters work, and how a cam profile dictates your powerband STFU. There are people out there who think VTEC is god and should be shot. and there are people who don't understand what VTEC is and make fun of it, should be shot. In a mild street/track car VTEC is a good thing. In an all out race car VTEC is bad. VerticleSmile, without using google tell me what VTEC stands for.

I work on cars every day, I have quite a few V-tec's and non-V-tecs. Not to mention I own a SOHC Vtec turbo. Carpo couldn't be more right. There is a Vtec solenoid bolted to the head that blocks flow of oil. When your engine hit's say,,,5500RPM, your ecu then sends voltage to that solenoid which then opens up and allows oil pressure to the 3rd "rocker set". The rocker set then moves over to the 3rd cam lobe quickly, which is when you hear your intake start roaring. Yes you can feel it "kick in" if you will....turns on.....whatever you want to call it. Either way it "turns on" so quickly that I feel a lot more power, especially at 12lbs of BOOST!

VTEC pretty much depends on oil and oil pressure. i have a SOHC VTEC, my cousin has a SOHC VTEC. after a cold air intake and an exaust, not only can you hear the VTEC engauge, but yes...you can also feel it. so don't come on here with the bs about not bein able to feel vtec not engauging in a SOHC. no its nothing like a DOHC VTEC enguaging but you deffinatly can feel it. and jus for the record, i've seen plenty of VTECs RAPE SVT and SRT's, no need to dream on.
