I think this is a spinner trend and will disappear not long after coming out....Just wait for companies like rent to roll start renting these out they'll play out real quick.

Straight from the web site most of your questions can be answered:
The center is 1.5 or 2” polycarbonate, chemical hard coated both sides.
Weight 20” - 27 lbs, and 22” - 38 lbs (complete wheel weight)
All other parts of the wheel are forged 6061t aluminum
(Inner and outer hoops and Hub center)
SAE tested, certified and passed Impact, cor nering and radial tests.
Suggested retail is $5000.00 per wheel
If you think that polycarbonate is not strong your very wrong.
POLYCARBONATE:
Polycarbonate is used mainly where at least two of its three main features are required: high impact resistance, temperatu re resistance and optical properties. Uses include riot shields, bullet p roof glass, submarine portholes, windows on space vehicles, etc.
Th e only issue I can see coming up would be keeping the polycarbonate clean and unstained. Wheel acid, gasoline, ammonia, etc can damage the finish o f the wheel centers. The chemical hard coat will help with that. I am s ure most stains could be polished out but would sacrafice the hard coating .
I like them a lot. They look especially good on the motorcycle.

Cool but probably not for anybody who wants to go fast or has a limited amount of cash.
And how much do those suckers weigh? I mean, a 22" aluminum wheel is heavy enough. Now you've got a solid 2" think plastic wheel, plus the rim, plus whatever connects it to the hub.
