The Mustang killed the Camaro simply by outselling it 2:1 every year since 1992. Even though Mustangs are consistently slower off the showroom floor? This means most buyers care more about the the way a car looks as well and overall build quality rather than simply slapping in a powerful engine in a tired out F- body chassis from the 70's. For christ sake my LS1 Trans Am still had the bump in the pass side floor for the cat as the 1980's Camaros did.
