WTF? The *bigger* the turbo the *more* street friendly it is? BS!! Here's why: when you don't hit boost (as in any boost) until 5000 rpm, you need more revs than if you had a smaller turbo. Revs will always use more fuel than boost, for the same amount of power. Admittedly, the 2JZ is pretty good off boost, but what about a 2.0L engine? You want lots of torque at low rpm for a streetable car, and only a smaller turbo can give you this. I know this as I have a Supra with the stock twins in TTC mode (not much boost until 3000 rpm), and a Skyline with the stock turbo (heaps of boost by 2000 rpm) and even though the Skyline is only 2.5L, it feels more streetable. For instance, going up a long, steep hill in the Supra, you need to drop a gear, but in the Skyline, it just powers up in top gear.
