I remember watching this on the evening news; also remember the official bo ard of inquiry concluded that the crew,all field grade officers, were hot -rodding the A/C. Trying to put on a hair show for crew and friends on the ground. Actually a multi-million dollar tragedy.

the reason b-52 doesn't do barrel rolls very well is because they dont have ailerons. They use spoiler boards to spoil the air over the wing causing it to loose lift.

B52s are not made to do a barrel roll.....

The B-52 may very well be the first plane to serve 70-80 years in service. Its projected to fly well into 2010 and may last to 2020. Its one of the b est bombing platforms ever made and its reign as the preverbial "Big Stick" for the USAF proves that its designers knew what the f.u.c.k t he where doing

Thats a B-52. A 707 is a commercial air liner with 4 engines (JT-57s) the B -52 has 8 (same engines). Both planes are very different looking

Actually the B52 is still widely used through the US military because it ha s proven itself a good design Sorta Like The Hemmt

I always thought these old B52's were designed to take everything.Afterall in the 1950's and 1960's ,before intercontinental missiles with nuclear wa rhead,bombers were the only ones capable of carrying hydrogen bombs and re taliating against a surprise attack from an enemy.Since the bombers were e asily spotted from any radar, enemy fighters would intercept them frequent ly along their long journey.So they were fast and rugged in order to survi ve attacks from enemy fighters.Had the pilot just put it down on its belly they would no doubt have survived.But from what I've read this pilot fool ishly tried to make this old warbird, a bomber as well, to do some fancy m aneuvres.So he payed with his life.Most B52's are nowadays in some desert junk yard waiting to be scrapped.
