dude i learned on the zx12 i have now. Just gotta respect the power of these bikes and you will be fine. I have talked to at least 3 people who bought 250's and they got bored quick...however if you want gas mileage and a little bit of fun i guess the new 250R is it. Looks good and great on gas. Up to you though.

Yeah I was talking to 2WheelRocket. Easy to learn on a 600? I live in a pretty dead area, lots of open roads to practice on. With gas almost $4.60 for premium and my srt's not so great mileage, it's gonna be soon that I get one.
