I don't think a roll cage is going to make much of a differenc with a head on collision. Hitting a car going 60 MPH while the car you're traveling in is going 60 MPH is alot different that a racecar hitting a wall at 60 MPH . This is especially true with an offset frontal test like the one you jus saw. Rollcage or no rollcage it wouldn't make a difference.

Exactly we're discussing street cars and you just can't have a roll cage in a street car....or at least not a full one. Unless that is, you want too wear a helmet in your car. Think about it, a metal pipe on the A-Pillar wo uld crack your skull open like a walnut in a crash.
Skinny - The vi deo itself is a few years old ;-)

There's a simple reason: Practicality. A roll cage takes up a lot of space inside of the vehicle. You need a cross brace right behind the driver and front passenger seats that also serves as the upper belt mount. This prevents reclining chairs. It also limits the adjustability limits of the seats for multitudes of drivers. Someone 5' tall vs someone 6'5".
Secondly, professional drivers are conditioned for the rigors of racing and, like it or not: For crashing. A physically fit body will handle the rapid deceleration (especially more rapid with the use of a cage), better than the average joe on the street. Combine that with neck braces that resist whiplash, and especially at high speeds, breaking neck vertebrae. Helmets are needed to protect your head from hitting one of the tubes of the roll cage.
It's all practicality/reality, vs the engineer and safety guys.

Hey dude you can't use racing rollcages in street.
Think in that people who don't have it... You'll kill them faster.
See ya. Drive Safe.
