Regardless of its rev line (probably around 8k) it still is pretty impressive. Streetable VWs put out more power per cylinder then any high strung Honda engine could and they can make it at much lower RPMs. High RPM motors usually need constant maintenance and tear downs. I'd much rather have an engine that makes its power down low and at a useable RPM.

I think a original VW Bug (1600cc) can go till 4500 rpm. I am not shure abo ut that, becouse my VW is not original... :) Grts, Jeroen www.VWkever .com

Honda's rev higher, but i guess that's high for a VW. I'm reving to 9k, bu t others are at 11k(full race of course)

THAT HAD SOME SICK REVS MAN. I WISH IT WAS ME ID BE THE ONE WITH THE F**KIN G PEDAL TO THE METAL AT ITS HIGHEST REVS. ENGINES GETTING REVVED MAKES MY P**IS E**CT

See this site for more info about this car: http://www.beetspeedengines.nl It's a type4 engine with 203 Hp at 5508 rpm. The engine is completely build by hand.
