If you're talking about a recirculated system, you wouldn't go rich with a BOV leak since the discharge is going right back in. You would simply have decreased compressor and turbine efficiencies, leading to more heat and higher backpressures. Which is where the HP loss really comes from.

I believe it, I tested my wife's gtis diverter valve, and it leaked almost immediately, around 3psi. I also changed mine in the evo, and solved my boost leak.

Octane boost is only as good as how much the car's computer is taking away timing advance. If the computer thinks that you have bad gas, hot dry day, etc. it will take away, or retard ignition timing advance. This means a loss in HP. Putting in the octane boost, only brought the car to it's potential with good gas 220 HP. That's why we use that baseline to compare when we put on the BOV. In today's modern computer controlled cars, quality of gas will make a big difference for power.

so does the octane really make a diff in hp by that much, or was it the fact the original gas was bad and the octane boostwas way better for it?

I'm sorry...28HP...I find that a lil hard to believe jus from the BOV unless there is some serious leaking going on there

this is by far the best video I have seen on this whole website hands down. Props to you for taking the time to go over the different dynos and do the testing/proving/explaining. I can not believe the octane booster was so effective even considering the gas was bad. makes me wonder if I'm getting bad gas sometimes.

What about other aftermarket BOVs(HKS SSQV, Greddy, Tial, etc) ? I would like to see the comparison.

This is interesting for anyone with one of these great cars. We made about 28
more HP just by swapping out the stock BOV for the Synchronic BOV.
