HP per engine weight actually matters a lot more.

I highly doubt it'll handle 2500hp with the maximum bore. I'll have to see if I can get any of the guys from GM Performance Parts to jump in on the t hread and answer questions.

Ford Modular motors like he said are the 4.6/5.4 V8 (also the 5 litre camme r) and the V10 but they are OHC motors. not pushrod OHV motors like the s mall block here. they are SOHC and DOHC motors and the design has been ar ound since the early 90's. infact the Lincoln mark VIII had the DOHC 4V 4 .6 in 1993 but for some reason import lovers seem to say America doesn't h ave DOHC V8s! Sweet block I have heard of the LSX but wasn't sure what it was. must have been fun designing all that into one block.

Awesome work Bow Tie boys and thanks for posting that here on Streetfire.
Yea, lots of different options and angles while designing an engine but I think you guys at GM have the kind of priorities I like. Keep up the go od work, we appreciate you.
Question though, this engine is rated a t 2500hp? is that with maximum bore?

thats kind of what im saying though, only thing is its a personal preferenc e/possibility type arguement. but im saying if you keep the normal bore an d upgrade to lighter components you could improve engine respone and power . sorry if i was confusing in that post but drinking happens to do that to me i apologize. but what i was going on was the "larger isnt always bette r" thing

At the maximum bore size there was still a decent amount of material left b ut if you need to replace the pistons you have no more room to bore. Bad i dea to bore out a brand new block all the way unless you can drop $2k on a nother block later. This block should be able to hold more than a 300 shot , it's rated for like 2500 hp if I remember correctly.

How about ft-lbs of torque per liter.
S2000 = 162ft-lbs
LS2 = 440ft- lbs (I know it's rated at 400 but one of the car mags threw one bone stock on an engine dyno and that's what it made)
162/2 = 81/tq/liter
440/ 6 = 73.3/tq/liter
Pretty close. For all those that think DOHC and force induction are new technologies go look up what the 1930s Duesenberg's use d. DOHC and Superchargers. More valves and moving the cams to on top of th e motor doesn't necessarily mean that it's more "high tech".

That engine block looks great, and the coverage was good too (mic problems, oh well, things happen).
