I am a mechanic , and If you ask me it could be a clogged fuel filter, a s low fuel pump, or a leaking fuel regulator. In the winter fuel pumps will take a little longer to flow if they are getting old. Spark Plugs could be a problem, but should act the same in the summer if it was the plugs. Also, If you pump the gas pedal while cranking and it fires up quicker its probably something with the fuel system.

Whats the mileage on that car? Maybe it just needs new spark plugs, in the winter an engine will start much easier if you use synthetic oil because it doesn't get thick when its cold. Also put in a bottle of fuel system c leaner in the tank and go for atleast an hour drive on the highway.
