I've rubbed that in my sisters foriegn car lovers face a few times. My american made firebird has gone 3 years and 45,000 miles with no need for ANY repairs. NOTHIGN AT ALL... FINALLY! someone who's driven and decided for themselves. And while i may not agree with the idea that Buick or VW are lesser cars to Toyota or BMW, its not my place to tell you you're wrong. The idea is to go out and drive the hell of what you like. If driving a pink 85 Nissan pulsar makes you smile, so be it. I personally love Crown Vics, Big Buicks, if it’s a unique car I’ll likely take a shining to it. For going fast, i dont care who makes it, or who's emblem is on it, if it puts a smile on my face its a good car. The trouble comes when things break, cost too much to either buy or repair; these issues make that driving experience a little less smile worth. If its cheap, fast and you enjoy it, I say All the power to ya. Just don't jump on a Forum and Hate on people for having different opinions. With cars its pretty easy to make brash judgments and bolded statements about what’s better by rambling off metrics like 1/4 mile times, 0-60, cornering G's, Price, Crash rating, etc. Rarely do any of those numbers or values matter to the driver when they're on the road (and obeying the law). Because the likeliness is that they're stuck in traffic wishing they could just get to or from home faster. But for me its that Odd chance when you can get onto an open road and really feel what those metrics mean and how it can makes me feel when driving. That smile makes every headache in traffic with your clutch, Every poly bushing squeak and radioless drive to work worth it. I could rant on about certain people and the general stereotype that follows them for driving a certain car or performing certain modifications to their car, but that would not only be unfair to the people who don’t fall into those stereotypes, but its also unfair to the people who have an honest to god good reason for driving a car that makes them happy. I drive an old Lesabre and a Frightening as hell Fiero, Both put a smile on my face for completely different reasons. That sense of joy comes partly because its refreshing to drive one after spending too much time in the other, but mostly because I know that I could never own one car that possesses the qualities of both cars. Neither car is perfect, I’ll admit that. But I’ll never admit that there is a car that is perfect for anyone, let alone my fickle ass. You’re either lying to yourself or you see automobiles as Tools rather than an opportunity to enjoy driving, express yourself and your feelings about the world. Cars are appliances to some people, but I’ll assume that these people are not the types to be frequenting this site often, let alone this video, so I’ll exclude them for the sake of saving time and not pissing them off. While I may not like or wish to own the vast majority of cars on the road, Someone must have liked them enough to at least drive it, let alone pay for it, insure it, fuel it, and maintain it. It does excite me to see people who are genuinely interested in their cars and who are willing to learn and share everything they can about their car, and hopefully about other cars. That’s what makes me happy about the way cars impact society, Cars and trucks alike can bring people together and can give them an outlet for their creative talents. The thing that angers me is when people do the complete opposite; People who purposely berate the values and opinions of others simply because they don’t share their narrow point of view on a subject. I could care less for the person who lords about in their 100k automobile looking down their nose at those of lesser fortune and less cylinders. The person I’d most like to understand is the person that can earn 6 figures during the week and get their hands dirty tweeking and racing a 3 or 4 figure car. Devotion to a hobby or any other personal interest that one believes to be fulfilling is a great character trait in a person, and one that I believe will continue to shape the car culture and this site in particular.

Until you get off your ass and get down to a dealership and test drive one, you won’t know what you're missing. I recently left the manufacturing facility that builds the new Equinox for Chevrolet to return for my masters. When we started testing the preproduction models i was blown away. It was Miles ahead of the CRV and Rav4 for panel gaps, wind noise, water leaks, ride quality and general build quality. Im not just spouting off brand loyalty here, i had the guts to go out and look at and test drive both the CRV and Rav4 because im not afraid to learn that a domestic vehicle has faults, Even one that i was building!It really burns me up to know that people can be so ignorant as to bash a brand, a product, a group of people, or a religion with little or no relevant understanding or knowledge of said brand, product, group of people, or religion. This is exactly the kind of thinking that kept Europe impoverished during the Middle Ages and allowed an Islamic empire to expand and conquer a vast majority of the old Roman Empire. While Bible thumping Catholic fundamentalists burned books and people for believing something different the vast majority of the Islamic empire stretching from Spain to Egypt largely protected Jews and Christians out of respect for their monotheistic views. I just don't understand how a person in a modern world can So easily spout off something so damn prejudice and ignorant about something after all humanity has suffered at the hand of close minded tyrants and fundamentalist extremists.Grow up and drive one.
