The uppers can benefit also, depending on the kind of suspension you have. The important thing in a triangulated 4-link is to have some compliance in the system, because the design can bind. The use of rubber or spherical bushings will keep the system smooth.

Its good to know how to do it and why you should do it but its safer and less time consuming (it will take more then a afternoon if your fairly new at it) and the new ones are much stronger then that.

Or maybe your particular ride does not have an aftermarket beefed-up control arm available. Here's the solution: Box up your stock control arms! Here, we sourced a pair of original GM lower control arms from our '65 Chevelle project. That car got new stuff, so we grabbed the extras, which happen to fit our 1968 Buick Riviera project.
