Isn't that a clip from the Derek Bell 'in car 956' dvd? I could be wrong but if it is it's a 956 Porsche and i HIGHLY recommend the dvd - loads of great footage including the Nordschliefe and the odd clip of the amazing Stefan Belloff.

Why is Porsche 917 of a running with Group C cars? But that video is real exciting! I'm a racing driver in Japan. 'Le Mans' is my dreamy race. T hank you.

THANK - YOU ! :)

P.S. Does anyone have video footage of 917's or or Ferrari 512's zipping d own the Mulsanne straight back in the day? Or even from current event's o r 917/10 or 917/30's racing in Can-Am or recent event's? Even sounds at t he very least? All I can find are pictures. Thanks!! I have videos of 9 17K's from recent events if anyone is interested, not that great quality b ut you can hear the cars roaring and snapping gears and tires...Truely ama zing!!

What an era it was then. Le Mans is still the event of the year for circui t racing for sports cars, save for Monaco in F1. And little wonder why Po rsche dominated the Sarthe circuit all those years with the 956 and later it's replacement the 962. Truely one of the all time great cars and track s represented here. I wish I could find more videos of these times and be tter quality. Enjoy, savour, relish and respect what these greats did.

I agree with david, those are definately group C cars. you can also date th e track, cause in 1979, the second dunlop bridge was removed between the e sses and the tertre rouge corner (corner that leads onto mulsanne). oh, an d the old mulsanne straight was about 6 km long, insane speeds, 405 km/h i n 1988!! (thats 251 mph!) :-) awesome video though, need more like it.
