they often do, the simple reason is they(i) have to succeed, that win might mean a better set of heads or new slicks, whereas the rich guy might want to win, but its only a couple hundred/thousand dollars, pocket change to him

Yeah there is always the rich guy that takes his car to the shop to have work done to it vs. the backyard mechanic who does all the work himself. I hope the backyard guy wins every time!

the traction "issue" is why the eclipses and the typhoon/syclones were such animals, i would mph eclipses by 10 to 20mph, yet still loose on the street, they left like they were being shot out of a cannon, and the driver does make the difference. As for the deepest pockets, there are many kill stories of back yard beaters nailing big money rides to the wall, plenty of "big dollar cars" have been beaten by well driven/tuned street cars, although the statement should be true in most cases

Settytb.....Its def all about who builds the car and who is driving. A guy in my area has a Mach 1 with big cams, AFR heads and DR's. I have personally seen him take down a C5 on big spray and a STS turbo'd Camaro. Cars are cars...the battle between chevy and ford will go on for eternity. A lot goes on behind the scenes. You never know what has really gone into the car unless you were there. Many cars have smaller displacement and less horsepower but still win because the the driver is good and they have invested a lot of money into traction.

It all comes down to the car, who builds the motor, and who is driving. A stock motor wont last too long if its being hit by lots of boost or spray, plus with the small cams, ports, etc your limited to how much power you can make in the end anyways. There are quite a few 600 +hp all motor ls1 camaros and vetts running around out there, but theyre far from stock. Stick a huge turbo/blower on a ls1, you can get 900+ streetable hp, build a crazy 5.4, again 900+ streetable hp. (streetable is subjective). The hp is there if someone knows how to find it, look at turbo people, texas turbo, pat musi, mike moran...the list is long, there is a reason people spend the big money to get those guys to build their motors, they make sick hp, and they dont blow up as frequently as the ones built in someones garage.

Settytb, yea, all motor, thats the LAMEST excuse ever, BIG CAMSHAFTS, big heads even stock, more cubes, it all evens out! "Boost the chevy" and you might just be picking up parts off the side of the road on a stock motor, although some make it for a little while. I have seen a few local blown and turbo LS1's in person over the years that couldnt outrun that Vortech 02 GT, nor the all motor LS1 cars in the video so take that ricer bullshittttttte elsewhere

nice cars, but how bout from a standstill, isnt anybody capable of doing that anymore, its all you see and hear any more, "ill run ya, from a 40 roll...", not picking on these particular cars, at least they seem to be fast enough to have slight traction problems, but its a joke, line up, flag the race, and lets see how they really do
