Finally the Commodore is coming to the states. in wagon, isedan. and in truck. its about time. I still don't think it will replace the GTO. just not sporty enough looking.

i think the g8 gt was right behind the srt-8 charger, so the gxp should do pretty dam well. i think it will surprise a lot of morons.

I don't realy know what it does performance wise, but you can go to Pontiac.com and build a G8GT ( the 361 horse 6.0 6speed auto ) and fully loaded it will sticker at just under $33,000.00. Just for comparison a Charger RT with the 350 horse Hemi and 5spd auto fully loaded will set you back about $36,000. I don't think the Pontiac looks as good as the Charger but you can do alot to it with the extra $3000.00 you save and you start with more cubic inches, more horsepower and an extra gear in the trans. Just my food for thought.

Still not enough power to motivate a 300+ lb increase in weight over the GTO M6.. The Quarter is projected at 13.3 not 13.0 for the M6 tranny and that same tranny will be a 5.0 sec 0-60 car just like the GTO M6. The G8 GT automatic runs 0-60 in 5.4 sec and the quarter in 14.3 sec at 102 mph in GM testing in nice cold air at sea level.. Pontiac and the auto mags tend to overstate performance figures to help the brand sell the new machine. I've seen and participated in all the road tests of the GTO's (none of them could get to 60 mph in under 5.0 sec flat with the M6 and the automatic versions were 1 full sec slower, running to 60 in 5.8 sec. ) The new GXP G8 is pure LS3 vette, no L92 heads. So add 55 hp more, equals 0-60 in 4.5 sec so start the mods. It takes approximately 90-100 hp to lower a cars 0-60 and quarter mile time by 1 full sec.

FYI: This car (G8) is the replacement of the Grand Prix\Bonneville.

RWD G6 with a V8? You have no idea what you are talking about. Its a completely different chassis adapted from the Holden Commodore. The G6 is a simple, euro-based car featuring solely FWD architecture.

When I saw the car in Detroit, it was ok. Stlying was nice, but I was disappointed with interior materials - didn't seem as nice as those in the GTO. I would have expected a little better from Holden/GM.
