you watched a GTO beat a GT3 RS? Ha. Now, either you're full of it, or the RS was driven by a 15 year old.

I have never had any overheating problems with any BMW. Of all the BMWs I have owned, or others i know of, I have never seen any overheating problems. I know that BMW is not known for any problems, let alone overheating ones. And same goes for gas mileage, the bigger the engin the more gas even with BMW, but i have only ever seen or heard of them getting either Great or good gas mileage, even when being Hot rodded. Its funny how you site no proof or even personal experiencs about it. I could sit here and bash nearly any american car till my keyboard fell apart, but i am of coarse extremely biased towards BMW, and it would be mostly my opinion... ha most of it. IEatPaintChips, I would guess you are just blindly expelling what ever seaps from your hole. I would also guess, wheather or not you admit in here or not, that you have never even spoken to a bmw owner, none the less been in, driven, .... or owned a BMW. I know this because once you owned or atleast driven a BMW, if you dont love them and do nothing but by only BMW and talk absolutely nothing but fantastic things about them you atleast dont talk bad and you respect them.

First of all you are comparing the flagship BMW model, the E92 M3, with the not so fast corvette. For an accurate comparison, put it against the Z06, the flagship GM model...i don't need to tell you the results of that. I am a devout BMW owner, but you my friend are full of sh*t. First of all, by saying "American" you are making a huge generalization. You could be referring to a 1970's pick up truck, or a cobra. Classic muscle cars were straight line wonders, but times have changed. A Z06 has greater lateral acceleration than both the M3 and the Veyron... hardly a straight line wonder. At the local autocross track there is a 2004 GTO with slicks, shocks, springs and sway bars. It frequently outperforms BMWs, Porsches, Audis, and many other european cars, because its overweight a*s sticks to the pavement like glue. Ive watched this car beat a brand new GT3 RS...some straight line wonder. As far as fuel economy, a Z06 and a v8 M3 are comparable, despite the 3 liter difference. Torque: M3=295lbs, Z06=475lbs And you should stop eating paint chips, I've never seen a properly maintained BMW overheat.

Yeah, our "straightline wonders" are dominating le mans. Let's race. Each with a quarter tank of gas until we run out. Oh, yeah, bimmers overheat like a mofo too. Mileage won't be your only problem. I remember smoking countless bimmers, who always had to move to the side due to overheating.

Everyone knows that farty, grumpy and buzzing American V8 muscle cars are straight line wonders. Even though, it does not directly compete with a Corvette. How did it do?
Check out European AutoZeitung.com comparison between Corvette C6 base vs R8 vs M3. The 4.0 L 420 HP and 295 ft-lbs M3 trounced the 6 liter 400 ft-lbs and 400 HP Corvette around a race track running faster lap times and slalom speed. Regarding the straight line speed, the 6 Liter Corvette farted and grumped up to 200 KM/H (125 mph) in 15.6 seconds while the 4.0 Liter M3 with it's beautiful motor with more aggressive gearing ran 200 KM/H a full 0.5 seconds faster than the farty and grumpy Corvette (15.1 seconds).
The best straight line acceleration numbers by Auto magazine Italy where it ran from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds and 1/4 mile in 12.5 seconds (400 M). It is an awesome around race track luxury car, but it is quick enough in a straight line to beat a farty, ancient American V8 Corvette with 2.0 liter smaller displacement and similar curb weight.

The engine is already wining best engine of the year awards in Europe. The car is built for balance and handling. It is built in the same plant where BMW builds it's Formula 1 racing cars hence it has the high-revving 8400 rpm 4.0 Liter V8. That is why it sounds so amazing unlike the POS, farty, annoying and buzzy American V8s that no one would give a sh*t about.
It is built for race track and ran 8:03 around the Nurburgring track (keeping in mind this is a luxury car with race car performance and not all-out race car). The E46 M3 CSL was the 4th fastest car around Nurburgring with 7:50 and M3 GT-R is the fastest car around Nurburgring ever.
Then again, M3 is a luxury GT race car with emphasis on luxury (hence the 3600 lbs curb weight).

hey...the car looks good and it sounds good. i don't see why they would make the 4 door an M3 version also. all it does is add more weight to the car so ur not gonna get the same performance like the 2 door. the 2 door looks better too.

err it's the M3 that has the lower price, made a mistake in my post! Atleast I believe it will have the lower MSRP when the price is announced.
