A 383 MAY BE AS SIMPLE AS A 400 CRANK IN A 350 BLOCK BUT THERE IS MORE TO THAN THAT TO DO IT RIGHT.IF YOU SWAP BOTTOM ENDS YOU NEED TO PUT 6.0 RODS IN AS WELL BECAUSE BY MAKING THE STROKE LONGER THE PISTONS TRAVEL FARTHER DOWN MAKING OIL GO INTO THE CYLINDERS SO YOU NEED TO USE THE 6.0 RODS WITH OFFSET WRIST PINS TO KEEP FROM BURNING OIL,IT WILL MAKE A STRONGER ENGINE WITH THE 3.750 STROKE BUT IT WILL SMOKE AND CONSUME OIL SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL DO IT RIGHT SO IT WILL LAST!

YA GM HAS NEVER PRODUCED A 383 IN ANY CAR OR TRUCK .HAS A GOOD BODY BUT HE NEEDS TO INVEST IN A SPOOL AND LOCK THE REAR END.IM NOT KNOCKIN ON THE CAR BUT IF THATS A 383 IT NEEDS REBUILT BECAUSE I HAVE A 383 IN MINE AND IT WILL DO ALL THAT PLUS SOME WITHOUT USING THE BRAKES AND LETTING IT RUN THROUGH 2ND GEAR ..........A STOCK CAR WILL DO THAT SO IF UR BUDDYS GOT A STOCK 305 IN IT THATS WHAT HE SHOULD SAY AND HE WOULD CATCH SO MUCH $HIT ABOUT THE ENGINE BEING WEAK BECAUSE FOR A 305 ITS DOING GOOD,BUT NOT FOR A 383!

sorry guys..........I talked to my buddy more about his 'maro and he said the owner b4 him dropped a 383 in it and the motor b4 the 383 was a 305 bored over, so I just didn't know all the facts, sorry :(

yea i totally agree with autobodygod....sounds alot like a 305 with flowmasters.......and they didnt put 383s in any chevrolets......383 is just a hot rod motor...nuthin but a 400 crank in a 350 block. simple as that.

it came from the factory with the stroker 383. Chevy only did that for a very few years. His camaro is a 1991 I do believe, nothing has been done to it except single chamber flowmaster dumped under the front seats

You sure it's not a 305? Sounds weak for a 383.
