im new to the beamer world. i just bought a 540i and from what i can tell driving around the rear-end sucks. its a 6-speed and it has a little spoiler with M badges inside so im assuming its the sport model. what rear-end does that have? and would i really need to break the bank to get me one i can do some drifting in?

Hi 507759,
My 540I has a Home Depot racing DIY intake (probably doing mo re harm than good, I need to get a OBD-II logger and confirm my intake tem ps via intake temp sensor) and a B&M short throw shifter. My 540I is n ot the sport model. It has a 2.81 open rear end. No LSD :-(
I wish I ha d the M5 3.15 LSD rear end. I'd likely pick up maybe 1 more mph and about 3 tenths.

I was surprised it wasn't closer to 4,000lbs to be honest. These are HEAVY cars. Friggin land yachts.... :(

For sure dude! If you see a black/tan 540I 6-speed with anthracite colored M5 wheels, just flag me down. Peace.
