just to correct you all this is an F1 engine. Judd produced this v8 in the late 80/s to early 90's. It sounds idenitcal to a judd cv which was used in f1 cars in the early 90s.
They rev to around 11000 rpm (they are not running variable timing) and produce around 590 bhp. Once the engine was obsolute in F1 the same engine was then reproduced and sold to race saloon and sports cars. hence why it's in this thing.
P.s i know all this because my dad has a judd cv in the back of his single seater, our judd sounds alot more revy than this one but thats probaly because of shorter exhaust pipes in our single seater. Oh and for anyone who interested our judd cv was rebuilt 4 years ago by judd and was producing 601 bhp after new pistons, theres a pic of it here http://2t4t.dnsalias.com/2007%20Hillclimb%20Java%20Gallery/Shelsley%20Final/Shelsley%20Final%202007/slides/PICT2042.html

im surprised an f1 car doesent have variable valve timing, especialy with the high revs it hits, imagin if u put a turbo charger, VVT, and everything els the fia bans on the the 2.4L, imagin how much how could be made!!! POWA

Torque vs. HP, it doesn't matter... it's not an F1 engine. I'm pretty sure that's a German touring car, those just have like 4.0-ish liter V8s, which is exactly what that thing sounds like. Even though that's an older one... but an F1 engine is either a V10 or the new ones are V8 but MUCH higher revving. So whether an F1 engine could move that car or not, it's not an F1 engine anyways.

"You don't need to tune an F1 engine for more low end torque in a heavier ca r, just lower the gearing in either the transmission or the differnential. How the h**l do you think the S2000 accelerates as fast as it does? It has 240hp, and can rev to over 9000 rpm but only has ~160 ft/lbs of TQ. L ower the differential ratio and that makes up for the torque"

Amen, someone who actually knows what he is talking about and used rational thought to form his statement.

A couple things, people are saying that it doesn't sound like a formula one engine, but you have to remember that if this thing is in the front of th e car, it's got a lot more exhaust piping to run through, and exhaust pipi ng makes a world of difference in the sound of an engine. It does seem to be on-song with the pitch of the new F1 V8's to me, just rev-restricted. T hat 190e is no doubt heavier than an F1 car, so it would be vital to retun e it to get some more torque, especially down low, which is very possible. Just my $.02
