The absolute worst thing you can do in that situation is hit the brakes. I have no doubt that you went off in the weeds. Hitting the brakes like that = unsaveable. The ass-end is coming around and you hit the brakes to make it lighter(less traction) which only made it worse! Sorry your car is messed up. :(
