That doesn't surprise me at all, mazda airboxes are hellaciously restrictive with all the baffles to quite the intake down.

it's not absurd, it's a factory turbo car. if the car was NA you would only get 3-5 whp. the reason they get 25+ whp is because it's not the engine working less hard to breath, it's the turbo working less hard. the factory vacuum solenoid for the wastegate no longer has the back pressure working against it, so quicker spool, more psi, easier to hold peak boost. it's not magic, it's turbo baby :)

We’re pretty sure Mazda didn’t plan for the turbocharged Mazdaspeed3 to make over 25hp at the wheels...
