it wasnt banned for the weight all they had to do is put lead plates!! they made a rule that only piston engines could participate, so in effect the rotary was banned!

did you guys know that the mazda 787b is the only japanese car to ever win leman!! after winning leman though it was banned because it was to light with the 4 rotary!!
