LS1C5VETTE: First off, a mach 1 is a much different beast from a 02 mustang gt. Stock for stock I pulled plenty of LS1 f-bodies at the track. Also, a mach 1 is officially rated at 305 crank hp. Dynos also proved that the mach motors were underrated. I have several dynos on my car when it was bone stock that prove that. Mine dynoed 283rwhp bone stock. If you account for 15% drivetrain loss that = 333 crank hp which is much higher than the rated 305. Also, these motors do not suck. Sure I could make my motor generate 600 crank hp completely N/A, but it wouldnt be very streetable and would cost a bundle. Its way cheaper to get that power with forced induction. LSx engines strengths lie in bolt ons and nitrous while mod motor strengths are FI. A mod motor is a much stronger block structurally than a pushrod based LSx thus it can hold far more power from boost than an LSx motor can. Why dont you walk up to all the guys running 1000-2000 hp on their mod motors and tell them their engine sucks. They will simply laugh in your face and let you choke on their dust. I dont mean that to be vulgar either.

I am going to say it straight up, the modular motors from ford SUCK, period. A 4.6l DOHC V8 that makes 305 HP will put down about 275 to the wheels. Adding a TB and UD Pulley will net you another 10 RWHP/13FWHP. FAR from 400hp. Get a LSX car and never look back. I had a 02 Mustang GT and they are a damn good looking car and sound great but it did not move.

dude I have steeda intake, magnaflows exhaust, mac long tubes, mac prochamber, 4.10's, sct tune and I put down 315rwhp and 330rwtg...i doubt with t/b and pullies you would put down that much
