a8955f87, I don't think the stock drivetrain on an 03-04 cobra can handle low 9's or high 8s'. Anything in that territory would need an upgraded drive train. I can see your point on Turbo's vs Whipple. A turbo conversion is expensive as compared to just upgrading the supercharger. If it were me I would go Turbo. Just my own preference. I would try to size it accordingly to the 4.6 like HPP or THP twin 57's kit. I do like the idea of raising the boost up or down when needed. It puts less strain on the crankshaft. There is some lag going turbo but it can be your friend if you want to conserve on fuel. There are ways getting around the lag such as break boosting. The one favorite part I love about Turbos is the way they sound. Check out modularfords.com. There is a turbo terminator section there with tons of info. Happy tuning.....

This is a different topic, but look at the procharger kits for the 03 04 cobra, biggest pos made for the car. they make 685rwhp, yet they run 10.90's at 128mph on that setup.
a ported eaton with a upper lower will trap 125-128mph IF properly driven with slicks and skinnies.
with a few fabrications and little extra money, you can make the procharger work for our year cobra's, and bumping up the compression ratio a bit.
just because you see a peak number on the dyno, that doesn't mean anything

benny, you are missing the whole point of my arguement. yes I do own a 03 cobra. with a catback only, on stock f1's, with 2,000 miles on the car full weight with spare tire and jack in the trunk it ran a 12.32 at 115mph with a 1.97 60 ft at west hampton racetrack here on long island when it was still opened.
what I am trying to say is, have you seen any real fast 6 speed TURBO COBRA'S?? 6 speed full weight now, not gutted out, built up motors.
what I am saying is, a twinscrew properly setup, on a full weight 6 speed cobra, might work better than a turbo setup.
without saying any names, there is one cobra, twin turbo making 800rwhp stock block, best of everything including driver, trapped 138mph.
there are twinscrew cobra's with 700rwhp on stock block trapping 138-141 mph. see what I am trying to say?
i can't justify spending all that money on a car, when I can do it with a twinscrew,
Unless, like I said before, if my cobra has a auto, 302 stroker or 324, then YES HANDS DOWN TURBO. again, if its properly setup.
I am not arguing with you on best bang for the buck, because I know this, I revolve around these cars.
my friend with a ported eaton, 15lbs of boost and a 60 dry shot post maf, ran a 10.34 at 135mph full weight 6 speed irs cobra, and that was less than 2500 dollars in mods he spent.
I know what these cars run, but so far, I have not really bit into the turbo kits for the 03 04 cobra's just YET. I am still having fun and runnin hard with my whippled cobra.

a8955f87, do you really own a 03-04 cobra? I can't really think of any fairly new or brand new car for 35k & under were you can slap a turbo and get 800+ hp on a stock motor. If going the cheap route, a pully, full exhaust, cold air kit, bigger injectors, upgraded fuel pump can easily net 500+ rwhp with only spending 2-3 grand. If that ain't bang per buck then please tell me what other new or fairly new car can make those numbers for 35k and under on a stock motor. Actually the 03-04 cobra are going for 25-28k used. The Supra's can make those power levels but they are 10+ years old and are not cheap for there age.

sytech, he never had a kb it was a whipple with a huge shot of nitrous.
wolverines car is in a different class than us 03 04 cobra boys. wolverines car is insane, i personally love his car, but you can't compare it to a little 4.6L motor or even a 302 stroker cobra.
yes you do hve more room to grow with a turbo, but if you look at some of the cobra's with the 6 speed and turbo's yes they make a lot of power, but the 1/4 mile time, isnt that great. They are fast, but for the money you invest into them, for going a little faster, well i cant justify that.
now, if the cobra has a automatic, twin turbo, solid axle, setup to race, then yes, turbo will be fast
food for thought, Jr just ran a 9.2 at 146mph with a stroker and a automatic with 25lbs of boost with a whipple. not bad. blower only run

I believe the turbos used on 78mpghrs cobra may be abit to big for a 4.6. Twin 67's would be better off on a 5.4. Twin 61's should be the largest for the cobra. Twin 57's would be perfect, full boost is around 3500 rpms. Nitrous could certainly help the turbo lag for twin 67's.
