As has been said, there are lots of different ways to do a "hill climb". 2T4T covers British Hill climbs which often take place on special tracks like this, or on closed public roads. Hill climbs in North America are mostly on public roads which are closed off. One of the most famous hill climbs is Pikes Peak. Unfortunately, there isn't that much of an interesting hill climbing in north america in this sense.

Obviously there is more than one different type of "hill climbing". Their is: Hillclimbing- racing up a smooth (dirt / tarmac) road; Formula off-road- Icelandic cliff climbing (insane); Dune climbing- UAE sport mainly, Mexico.... anywhere with BIG dunes; Rock crawling- MUCH slower than all of the above, but no less dangerous!!; Motorbike hill climbing- trying to get up/as far up a ridiculously long and steep hill. (Special ultra long swing-arms...) My favorite is when they compete with LORRIES!!!! (Canada??); Plus many more I probably don't know about....

Yes I love hillclimbs! I wish it wasn't so wet out, then you'd really see those machines fly.
