i have run that stretch of highway with a duramax it never overheated but it pulled like crud, ran the same load with a dodge cummins and never had a problem. the main problem is that chevy put a crappy motor out for people to buy. would never own one luckily the chevy i had was alease truck and only needed the pos for 6 months. if you dont tow its a good motor

The issue with all of the armchair comments, is you do not understand that General Motors denies there is a problem here! I have an LLY with well over 100K miles and never had this problem.

WMC210PLT4 and 613DMax said it very well, GM should pay for it and they do advertise it doing this which makes it worse. He is not necessarily overheating; it is more at the borderline of overheating. I think that because the truck overheats, then cools back down over and over again. So it�s not dangerously overheating in my opinion so he most likely won�t blow a gasket. If he drives many miles like this(probably around 100 ) and his engine was not very durable, is not cast iron, things like that, then he might score the cylinders, wear down bearings, and most of all burn exhaust valves. But like I said, that�s only if it is not very durable because those things would be under about the same load without the engine overheating. Some of you already know that, but I still feel the need to say it......so I did. :)

{WMC210PLT4} EXACTLY! these truck are designed soley for this purpose. If you can't tow a small GN trailer w/o pulling over every mile to cool the engine off then you deserve to get your money back for this truck. that old dodge is having no problems at all. the duramax is supposed to be DESINGED to do this. GM messed up and they should pay. Also, this guy suing GM for THEIR mistake is not why the trucks are so expensive, it is because of the unions.

{eabale2003} Before you get too fired up you should think about the fact that GM markets these trucks to do what he's doing plus more without ANY problems. He should of been able to take this Duramax and do this without problems. I ran my 98' Cummins (12V, 250,000 miles and bone stock) for 4 years (then I started to mod) pulling a gooseneck with a backhoe on it on almost a daily basis with NO problems.

Are you kidding me with this?? You purposely overheated the engine doing that. Now you want to bitch and sue for it. You are unbefreakinlieveable!! Here's a piece of advice, when it's overheating, PULL THE F**K OVER!!! It's not a hard concept. Your lucky you didn't blow the head gaskets jackass.
