I replaced just about everything under the hood. The block was reused and has all new gaskets and timing parts. The head is from a different engine I had. All wiring, plastic and rubber bits were replaced with stuff from a donor car. The thermostat temp sensor is brand new, hooked up properly and reads out typical values on the logger. I guess I could try a different CAS, but if it wasn't working I would just assume I'd lose 2 cylinders at a time. I will continue to troubleshoot. Thanks for the suggestions.

Have you tried setting the mechanical timing with a pair of stock cam gears? Its allready difficult enough to get it spot on. I'd re-do mechanical timing. Then check your CAS out (swap out to a known working CAS if you can find one) and inpect its harness out real good. re-confirm your ignition timing. ANother thing that will make a DSM sputter and stall on start up is if ANY of the coolant temp sensors or wires are not connected or damanged. Good Luck. i've been chasing DSM gremlins for years.. you'll get it. the whole fire thing really sucks.. I assume you replaced the entire harness?

I've been playing around with the injector deadtimes a bit, I drove it to the gas station and filled up on junky 91, but it still has about a half tank of the old 93 stuff. I find that if I lock the timing down with the timing lead I can get it to idle, but I would never try to drive it like that. I'll pull it apart sometime in the next month and make sure the mechanical timing is spot on. I think I'm also going to try some new injectors and a new air sensor, too. Anyway, I missed my deadline for the Factory Mitsubishi Owners' Day in Illinois this weekend, so I'm done for now.

Make another video and tell us everything you can about this car, from the fire till today. There are enough gear heads on here that you can get info that will lead you in the right dirrection. I've done that with my project for over a year now with great results to get me unstuck.
