yup, ethanol itself has a lower energy concentration than gasoline, and therefore you must use more of it(hence the %20-%30 loss in mpg). However, because of its resistance to detonation, it is like running race gas all the time. So timing can be advanced and you can safely increase what we evo owners love most: BOOST!I am getting a dual map for this, 91oct and e85. Problem is availibility. Only two stations in my whole city.

Good runs. Props to the RSX-s for trying. E-85 requires at best 1000cc injectors and maps created in the ECU to correctly function. As cornercarver said, E-85 and 100oct are similar in octane ratings,(100-104) but chemically based are very different since E85 is an 85% ethanol mixture.

Like cornercarver said...many evo owners are running 1000+ cc injectors when running e85 (on the stock turbo).

nice vid.kickermsp- when you switch to E85 gas tune you have to run 1000cc's and 255lph fuel pump because it uses more fuel. However, I think, and don't quote me on this, but it is equal to 100oct gas, but costs about half as much.

Nice race...I like how you post vids even when you lose. But you only lose to some pretty quick cars. Nice vids.
