I agree many american cars are poorly made and very boring to say the least... I do think they are getting better some what... Gm at least made a few very nice and exciting cars. G8, Solctice, corvette, and camaro are all nice cars that I would consider purchasing.. I really wish I could say that about ford and chrysler...

Tiawatha; I'm not arguing that hyundais and hondas don't have door gaps. Maybe I mis-worded it, my argument is that these competing companies are now building better cars than the creators of the automobile? the "german engineered cts" was an honest typo...I don't care and couldn't care less for it, really! I drive an A4 and I am constantly puzzled why the Americans can't come close to this kind of build quality? I will differ with you though that any merc is going to be built better than any ford, merc spends 1million dollars a DAY in engineering so were not surprised. Now....don't get me wrong, I still prefer an Audi interior to a merc, but that is my preference. I still think that anything over 60 mph in an American car, you better hold on the steering wheel with both hands, and even then the car will swerve by itself. I also think nobody here can argue that the interiors are a disaster. Other than style, the quality of materials used just seems to me to feel like recycled pepsi cans, and THAT is what I was referring to about the Hyundai genesis - that they are finally coming close to Lexus levels.

wow baq18t..you have some issues. its not just American cars..ive owned pletny on different cars and the only one that didnt fall apart was my Mustang.. My Hyundai was a pos, my 08 Accord is cheaply made and falling apart..my moms benz was the biggest pos ive ever driven.. as far as your body gaps are concerned go look at some japanese cars and tell me how close the lines are..you need to get your head out of your ass..as=nd the "german engineered" CTS is still junk...drive one and tell me its worth the price..go buy a motorcycle and save the earth

How does one define poorly built? one of many examples, take a glance at the gaps between body panels of any american car (minus the Z06 or greater) and you can clearly see through it, now compare it to a VW or entry level merc, Beemer, toyota, lexus, or even HYUNDAI? WTF they can now make proper cars, Genesis?! Side note: I rented a brand new chevy Impala for a road trip. Past 65 mph you could not help but hear a wind whistling noise that for the life of me, I couldn't figure where it was coming from? and past 73 mph the car decided to steer itself. Again, this is purely factual. America's only marketing angle in the car sector is "the cheapest ______ for the money" common, you heard it with the corvettes etc.I really hope they can get their act together and realize that people will pay a bit more for a car if you stopped treating them like a heard of donkeys willing to buy anything the American car industry threw at us.
