What you are seeing is from a well tuned nitrous engine with retarded timing, not a overly rich burnt valve small block with advanced timing.

You're dead wrong. It is deffinatly the nitrous. You can see the flames shoot out the same time you hear the motor ramp(this is when the nitrous is activated). Also a little known fact-the flames you see coming out of top fuelers is actually the hydrogen in the air burning , the flames are not actually being shot out of the motor. 2 very different motors.

I can get my 355 in my pickup to do that by advacing the timing and playing with the carb and that motor has never seen nitrous. That and i think has a burnt valve!

Lean motor = Hot
Rich motor = Cooler

There is always fuel that does not get burned going out exshaust. Runing one really rich and advancing the timing alot, over 38 degrees, will do it too! There are many ways to get a motor to do that. I think we are both right, just diffrent thinking but then again I havnt played with nitrous all that much, so just trying to learn so new stuff!!!

Nitrous IS doing that. If they were N/A I gaurentee they wouldn't be shooting flames. They also run RICH not lean, running even slightly lean with nitrous will melt down the motor in a second. Also with THAT much nitrous, they could actually run with the throttle closed, because there is sooo much extra fuel and air going in. Nitro cars have flames because one of the products of combustion of nitromethane is hydrogen, which mixed with air it becomes volitile and ignites.

Dont think Nitrous is doing that!!! Big overlaping cams will do that and runing the motor lean!!!! Top Fuel's do it and they don't run nitrous. my two cents worth
