Well actually you're wrong.Getting a lot of reliable hp from every litre is proof of engineering skill.You say it doesn't matter?Oh really?Then how c ome in every single racing where there's a limit in displacement that is h ighly important.Look at F1.They put out more than 300hp/litre and race for two races=600kilometres=373miles.Torque?Well not long ago a BMW 3,2litre straight six developed more torque on lov revs than a almost twice as big CorvetteV8.How?Well,they have variable intake and outlet valves which maxi mizes torque at lov revs and hp at high revs.Add a really powerful engine management system.That's high tech for you.Better still fuel economy is be tter too.Yes,you don't even have to invade some third world country and ge t some puppet sell his oil for some favours.One thing more,USA produces mo re C02 emissions per person than any other industrial country.Some turbodi esels have a pretty flat torquecurve from virtually idle to 4000 rpm.

It's a matter of taste.To most non-americans american cars sound ALL THE SA ME.No identity or something that puts them aside from another.I like this Porsches LeMans racer sound.To me yank V8's are very loud and their sound is just a slammering annoying metallic noise,not unlike a pneumatic rock-d rill if you get my drift.That's also loud but incredibly annoying to most ears.Yank V8's are the engine equivalent to death-metal.Sure they are very loud,but can they sing??Louder is better huh?Well in that case stand next to a space-shuttle at take-off,that's loud.

It's totally hopeless trying to get those rednecks,hillbillies,trailer-tras h and adolescent kids to understand that.High-tech engineering and perfect ion is not too difficult to understand but for dumb kids that's asking too much.No,to them it's a 1/4 mile that matters.Not just the ricers everybod y bashes,the red-neck cowboys too in their anciently engineered dinosaurs are no better.High-tech and high-quality is EXPENSIVE,that's how capitalis m works.

You're blind,tasteless and would take a plasticky,average build-quality Cor vette over a high-quality state-of-the-art Porsche with ceramic brakes?Tel l you what.The Carrera GT wins over ANY car at the nurburgring so far.The only ones that has gone faster is tuned Carreras from TechArt and EdoMotor sport.

Yes,but unfortunately Porsche hasn't been in Formula 1 since 1991 and that was with a V12.In the 80's they designed the TAG Turbo which won 5 titles for McLaren.I think you are mixing it up with the Ferrari F50 which had th e 3,5litre V12 from the 1990 F1 car enlarged to 4,7litres.
