You assume I did not ask the manager for permission. On the contrary working on an agreement to facilitate such filming. They do it all accross the country. Race teams and speed shops such as Lingenfelter have done it for years. This is NOT a new idea.

No, the Thunderbirds and other exhibition type teams/solo guys DO get waivers. You CAN get waivers for things like air shows, movies, and other special things, but I doubt they would be approved just to take some cool vids at a private airstrip with your cars (which are probably faster than that Cessna). From what I gather, you didn't get any type of waiver, and your just relying on the fact that you are VFR in the middle of no where at an uncontrolled airport and nobody told you not to. If that's the case, you broke the rules. Like I said I DON"T CARE< KEEP IT UP! I was just saying you might want to be careful with advertising the tail number, but do what you want. What did you do for NASA that involved aviation BTW? My grandfather retired from NASA about 10 years ago.

Again man, I'm not knocking what you did. I think it's cool as shit, I'm just saying some CFII on a power trip might see this and try and raise a stink. VFR or not, 500' directly over a person, vessel, vehicle, or structure. Also, sub-para (a) might apply, but you could maybe wiggle out of that one.

You mean that's it's a unicom, uncontrolled airport. From the AIM:Except when necessary for takeoff orlanding, no person may operate an air-craft below the following altitudes:(a) Anywhere. An altitude allowing, ifa power unit fails, an emergency landing without undue hazard to persons or property on the surface.(b) Over congested areas. Over anycongested area of a city, town, or set-tlement, or over any open air assemblyof persons, an altitude of 1,000 feetabove the highest obstacle within ahorizontal radius of 2,000 feet of theaircraft.(c) Over other than congested areas. Analtitude of 500 feet above the surface,except over open water or sparsely populated areas. In those cases, the aircraft may not be operated closer than500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle,or structure.
