That is an 2001/02 2.0l STi vs a M3 SMG with the launch control. Neither, available in the US. I have a stock 05 STi, my boss has stock 04 M3. Bot h nice cars, I out run him to 100mph everytime. Women flock to check out the Bimmer everytime. You win some, you lose some.

The STI in the video was also a 2 litre in Europe, not the 2.5 litre one av aillable in the US. Only this year do we in the UK get the US 2.5 litre en gine, albeit, down-tuned once again for 280 hp. The Subaru affiliated tune r Prodrive (they do the official rally cars) are working on a Prodrive upg rade to 350 bhp to compete head-on with the Evo IX FQ340 (which has 345 bh p in the UK).

in europe the E46 M3 has 343hp/365Nm... and that is a WRX STI like they sel l them in Germany.. with 280hp/392Nm only... I guess Subaru fears blown en gines at the Autobahn and for that reason they gave us Germans only 280hp in the WRX STI... btw the WRX STI cost in Germany $20,000 MORE as in the U SA guess why.. to make it bulletproof for long distance high speed driving on the Autobahn... 0-125mph the German 2005 WRX STI needs 21,9s and the 2 005 E46 M3 needs 17,6s... it does not play a rule what figures they have i n the USA the video is taken in europe and here we have to pay a lot more money for a Subaru for a lot less performance...

In the UK the 2.0L STi (2003 model) I owned had 300 BHP with the prodrive p erfomance pack (known as PPP - a factory power upgrade). Bone stock before the power pack was fitted it only had 262 bhp. Even using 98.5 octane fue l, a K&N drop-in filter and Millers octane booster with the PPP, I co uld only hold an E46 M3 till around 70 mph. After that the M3's higher rwh p and lower coefficient of drag gave it a definate advantage. The bonnet s coop and rear wing on the STi rely hamper accelleration after the ton. I n ow own a stock M3 and it just keeps pulling where the STi runs into an aer odynamic 'brick-wall' above 100-110 mph. The video seems about right fo r a 280+ BHP STi verses a stock E46 M3.

and btw the europe Version of the M3 (E46) has 343hp and the E36 M3 has 321 hp... the E46 is as heavy as the STI and the E36 is lighter.. more power s ame weight or lighter means faster... the AWD is only a advantage on the f irst yards...

M3 will always win against any stock Subaru. AWD isnt all mighty as many be lieve, around a track the results would be even more in the favor of the M 3.

guys´s where is the problem.. stock a M3 is the faster car... the Suba ru had only advantage on the first yards thanks to AWD... but the M3 has m ore power ... a E46 M3 is one second faster at 60mph as the fastest WRX ST I (280hp europe version)...
