The more duration you try to put in cam will ultimately cause the cam to have more overlap. That is where the LSA( lobe seperation angle of a cam comes into play. The higher the lobe seperation the less overlap you will have for a given duration. So if your wanting to get more duration out of a cam without killing performance, then a grind with a bit higher lsa would be the ticket. This is still the same if you have DOHC becuase they build the seperation angle into the set. With a proper set of cams, cam gears, and a good tuner, power loss from big duration cams has kinda gone bye bye. But again ,dont go putting a huge cam in a stock turbo car and wonder why it lost power. There is a cam for every power level and NO one cam fits all.

If he used stock cams with stock lift and duration, he wouldnt have made near the power he did. Those cams, if set up right, need more duration and lift to make the power he is. A nominal turbo cam would be a high lift low duration low overlap cam. But when your shooting for big numbers, you have to give a little to gain alot. In this case he is giving up some power due to the overlap but the gain he is getting by being able to cram that much more air in far outweighs the little bit he lost. Its all i what you want out of the car.

that 'lope' you hear is called overlap, which hurts performance. overlap is when the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time. usually this is done to improve top end, but too much overlap=lost power.

It put 792 down with a stock ported intake manifold!! His cams are crower full race stage 3's (similar to crane 22's). If you dont have big turbo, head work and a bottom end to support it all big cams are useless...

The car sounds sick. Not every car you hear has to sound like a small block or big block to sound good. And so what it looks like a neon, calling it that isnt going to make it slower. Most people on here arnt car enthusiast, their just bias clowns that rather cry all the time instead of just giving a car respect when it deserves it. There are plenty of 9,10,and 11 sec SRT-4's so why are people still complaining! Damn people, its not to late to grow up!

i have an 05 SRT with Crower 264 cams, for some reason my idle is the same as it was when i had the stock cams, I dont have the lumpy idle like this car, but i want it to, any ideas how i can accomplish this goal of having my car sound like a beast? p.s. i dont have aftermarket cam gears if that matters at all
