I don't think it was nitrous, but it happens. It's called nitrous puddling. There is a vid on here somewhere of a 'vette blowing it's hood off because of it.

That sucks. But I was on the edge of my seat though just by the title of this vid. Thank god it didn't explode in everyones faces as they rubber necked over the engine bay.
