Actually, I have an 04 Mustang SVT Cobra and a 2007 Z06. I have owned an RX7. The Z06 driver was weak... or has bald tires! He ran a 12.4 ?

And SimonLT1, it's an $80k 427 cubic inch "stock" car against a $15k 80 cubic inch 15 year old Mazda with about $10k of modifications. It's 1/3 the price and the weight is similar.

Formuladude, thank you for your intelligent and informative comment.RevMatt, thanks for watching. It's no suprise that the 2 main cars that beat up Mustangs (Vette and Rx-7) would make you feel well...weak. Seriously, I think Corvettes and Rx-7s beat more Mustangs in races than every other ype of car combined!

1st off TorqueSouth, nice car. I like the looks of the 3rd gen RX7's. Your car isnt rice by any means cuz by most peoples definition, ricers are more concered about aesthetics rather than the hp/tq, whether it be a domestic car or an import.

2nd your car is fast plus you have an advantage cuz of the slicks. I think you should be a little more humble in your views on the rotary engine because the fastest cars in the world are "old school" pushrod V8's. They make between 3000 and 6000hp. Right now, v8s are still kings of the track, going on 4 decades.

3rd, the average C6 Z06 should run 12.1's-12.2's around 122mph-124mph. Only the real good drivers can get mid 11's at 128mph. Sh*t, some drivers have gotten bone STOCK(no weight reduction) LS1 camaro's/firebirds to run 12.9's @109-110mph. But they drive it like they stole it and its really rare.

I have an LT1 Formula Firebird and was wanting to put an STS system on my car, similar to the Camaro in the video. Front mount turbos are a more efficient way to turbo a car but for a person who wants an 11 sec car, the STS system can easily do it. This guy was probably runnigna round 10psi judging by his trap speeds. 5-6psi of any forced induction and an average LT1 will usually allow it to run around 110-112mph. Theres a video of a LT1 camaro running 21psi and puts down 780RWHP and runs in the low 9's.

to the guy who set better traction lowers the trap speed, i dont necessarily agree with that. i view it as the sooner you get full traction, the more length of the track the car has to run its full potential. If a person spins 200ft of the track, that only leaves 1120ft of track to run the car without traction loss. But if traction is controlled better and only loses it for 80ft, that leaves 1240ft left of the track for full potential. Changing the gears on a car to run a quicker ET will usually drop the trap speed by a mph or maybe 2.

For the above comments:
I am the driver of the white Rx-7. I am also a GM certified tech that gets to rag on LS7 C6 Vettes daily and get paid $20 an hour for it. Corvettes are amazing. They are overall a better car than the '93 Rx-7. However, my old busted a*s Mazda has smoked many Z06s including this one. In this video, my almost stock stage 1 clutch (organic 6 puck) failed miserably. Also, I was letting off hard because it was the guy's 1st time and I GOT KICKED OUT OF THIS SAME TRACK LAST TIME I WAS THERE FOR RUNNING MID 11S 5 TIMES WITHOUT A CAGE. I am aware that stock C6 Z06s are going 10.8s @ 129 on slicks only. But any slicked 20 psi 1.3 liter Rx-7 can do that, and let's not bring the automatic low boost 2.0 lier 3 rotor into this or even mention the 9 second 700 hp all motor 2.6 liter 3 rotors. So coming from and experienced GM technician and drag racerm shut the f**k up and bow down to the rotary. I taught this guy what car to drive, how to drive, brought him to Moroso, whipped him, made a video. Outkast reigns.

SADDLY BUT TRUE TO SAY THAT, IF BY CHANCE THE RX7 HAD THE SAME HP AND TQ. NUMBERS AS THE MONSTER V8 OR 10 SITTING NEXT TO HIM AT THE LANE, THE Z06 DOES NOT STAND A CHANCE, OH AND THEY WEIGH ABOUT THE SAME TOO.
