Wow, great idea! Buy a manual transmission which is known as a temporary 5-speed, due to the fact that you can blow one in a couple of days.lol Just hook up the AOD transmission.

mustang aod's are crap.i know from owning one.baby it so it will last u until u get money saved up for a t-5 swap.unless u build up a c4.but recomend t-5.and predator22 isnt makin any sense to me if not anyone else either.and if your car is speed density already, buy a mass air conversion because your gonna need a new computer with a 5 speed.and its all a very simple swap.good luck

if u ware gonna do trans shift why go with manual i have a friend that had a acura ls turbo stock internals so he was on 8-10psi he made around 220whp i belive got tires of auto bought manual took on a dyno he loost 8hp lol so he lost power if i ware u go with th400 trans that is if u got $$$$ :)

how come in my f150 truck when i manual shift it, it shifts right when i move the shifter? 1-2-D-OD. confusing why ford would do that to a truck and not a mustang.

there is a benifit for shifting a stock auto but only in first gear with traction issues so the tranny does not shift to second durring wheel spin.

Just stop doing that for a while, save money, then hook up the transmission and the engine.

Doing what you did achieves nothing with the automatics. Have you ever heard of the AOD shuffle? That will cut a tenth or 2 off your 1/4 mile if done right. Start out in 1, hammer it until it get to around 5500 (since the stock shift point is at 4900-5000) then move the stick up to D then back to 1 after it shifts. This will hold it in 2nd gear as long as you want (like i said, 5500 is about where you want to shift at), then put it back into D and it will hit 3rd. Of corse this will put your AOD on the fast track to grenading itself, but when i was doing it i didnt care, it didnt take me long after purchasing the car to swap out for a 5 speed. Like i said, do it at your own risk.

just take it out of OD & no manual shifts...foot brake it bring ur revs enough up so that u don't break ur tires the take your foot off the break and let tranz do it's own shifting.
