well I just got a call from the shop and it turned out to be a rod bearing. The shop is calling DSS this afternoon to work out who's paying for what and when I get my car back.

What do you mean forgot? The motor ran great up until 2 days before it started making this sound.

oil pressure is right at 45 psi at idle and climbs to around 55 while driving.
