Yeah, that last thing you said is wrong. To get more torque at the wheels, you can't just rev it higher, especailly seeing as most engines start to lose torque in their upper range. In fact, you said it yourself, torque times rpm (divided by 5252) is horsepower, so if you rev the engine more, you get more horsepower (and maybe torque, but that depends on where the engine makes it's torque, not on engine speed alone.) Horsepower is a function of torque, not the other way around.

Also, engine torque is the most important rating. Horsepower is the least important. In the words of Caroll Shelby "Torque wins races, Horsepower sells cars." The torque is what actually moves you.

And if gearing was everything, we'd all be using rc engines.

I'm taking your gold star away.

with motor cross bikes, chain driven has a hige factor in power. If your ch ain is loose your start will be to slow, if its to tight it wont move. the chain in first if it is a 5 speed or a 1 speed must have had slack and th e power band didnt pick up untill the chain became tight.

We dont have very tall hills here in Michigan. This is one of the tallest and steepest ones in the Silver Lake Sand Dunes.

Did you guys go and find the shortest hill to race on? Or are there no tall hills to climb there?

If you read all of the comments, you would have read that he only popped a front tire off the bead. Nothing that an air tank couldn't fix.

Amazingly enough? Rednecks go wheelin'. we have to have the right gearing so we can get the wheelspin to clean the treads and such. Plus, I've been into this stuff my entire life. I am also a part of my old auto teachers racing team, Bad Andy Racing. They have a 10 second S10 with a stroker, a 9 second VW Beetle with a 454, and are building a new competition monster truck.
