Well if someone was out to build a very well handling car they probably wouldn;t do this swap. But there are people how would want to build it for the fact of it being pretty original and to drag/street race it. Its only a waste of money if you don't get what you wanted out of it.
no different than doing a ls1/ls2 swap in a rx-7, which it seems to have become very popular. where yes the rx would handle a better but still the same principal.

When did it ever because uncool to build what you wanted. I forsure wouldn't build a car to make you fuks happy. i would build it for me and only me.

But there's a dark side to a project car, too. When we discarded so many of the bland aspects of the Focus's performance profile, we lost a lot of the car's utility as well. The Focus V-8's 215/45YR-17 tires and total lack of chassis development deliver barely 0.80 g of grip, which doesn't make this car a good choice for autocrossing or even taking to the grocery store.

Although it can be fun to have Frankenstein as a pal, there are times when you'll wonder what you could possibly have been thinking when you decided to put the monster together. But it sure does sound great.

This was done a while ago in "Automobile" mag. Google "How not to build a v8 focus" and you'll find a hole article on it it is cool and in that mag the only motor that could actually fit (even though it really doesn't) is the 5.0 rwd cammer motor. Not to mention the focus weights 2919 pounds that isn't that light rip out the ac and stereo on a mustang and vola! not to mention the mustang has the distinct advantage of not looking like a ford focus
