the way the motor takes a jump , i wonder if the vacume secondary carb hasn't had a little help somewhere

the stock cam was ground on 114 centers ,, so thats gonna help it RPM,

I remember a 302 build up back in the day, I think it was in the 1977 issue of Hot Rod when the Z 28 made its return , , 12.5 , ported 292 turbo heads to nascar specs for the period ( similar to 034 bowties ) , big roller 280 at .050, edelbrock scorpion with a 830 holley ,, and it only made 501 hp ,, but if anybody doubts the RPM ,, they shouldn't because they will crank it , helped a friend with his 287 chevy , it would go 8000 no problem

This is probably one of the greatest "stock" motors ever produced. It's basically as close to a race motor as you can get in a stock car. My uncle has owned his 1969 Z28 since new and within the last few years had it rotisseried. The motor was freshened up with all stock parts and the muncie was also rebuilt. I can tell you all that these motors will spin some serious rpm's. I've seen the tach in his car bury itself when under full throttle. The only downfall to the "DZ's" is that there isn't a set of tires that can handle 430rwhp with a muncie and 4.10's. My uncle's car dynoed 422rwhp @ 8100 rpm. He ran it in some nostalgia drag's in pomona and it did anywhere from 12.8's to 13.4's (depending on traction). Great video by the way. I hope everyone has a chance to see this. BELIEVE IT!

Too Normal guy this motor dosen't have solid (mechanical) roller lifters it is a solid flat tappet cam (part no. 12-107-3 comp cams). Too Blacktop the fuel used was CAM-2 110 octrane.
