SVO (Special Veh Operations) was purpose built for closed circuit racing. That is the reason for the 4 disc brakes, koni adjustable shocks, and tricks 4 shock rear ends. You'll also notice other odd ball tweaks, such as covered front lights, specialy designed rims for brake cooling and areo, as well as a tweaked front/rear weight distro. Checking SCCA results will show exactly why this was a show room stock rocket.

ford could have made even more power out of the 2.3t's but didnt want to over shadow the 5.0 too much, if it would have lasted just one more year there would have been a dohc 2.3t.. but ford had a few misunderstanding witch led to overpricing and the svo's end

Well the discs and lugs did give the SVO more of a performance look. Just a lways thought it was strange that the GT didn't have them.

The pass was n/t. The svo was way through the traps when it cut off. Don't have any footage of the cobra showing time so guess he went n/t to.

Turbocoupe also had 4 wheel disc brakes and came stock with a 3'73 rear end . The reason the SVO came with 4 wheel disk and the GT did not is because the SVO was considered more of a sportscar and made more power than the V- 8 in 84-86.I guess putting a turbo on a domestic car automatically assumes its fast enough to need 4 wheel disk brakes.
