sorry to break the news to you, but have you ever heard of Audi? lets just take the B7 s4 for example: 340hp n/a 4.2L V8, AWD, 4 doors, and 0-60 under 5 seconds. so lets add that up: more room, more doors, more versatility(winter driving), all with the same speed. dont even get me started on the awards Audi has won in the past 25 years as a pioneer of automotive technology. P.S. i guess that's what an S car is all about!

BMW's M Division is known for overachievement. Take the current M3 for example. An inline 6 with only 3.2L making 333hp naturally aspirated. A curb weight of roughly 3450lbs and can still do 60mph in under 5 seconds. 4.8 manufacturer est and tested in as quick as 4.6. Near perfect 50/50 distribution and has room for 4 adults comfortably. It's NOT a drag car..lots of cars are faster. It's NOT a track star...many cars will beat it. It's NOT a family car...many cars have more room. But there isn't a single car that does everything very well. It's not the best at any one thing....it's the best at doing everything all at once. That's what an M car is all about. P.S. The BMW V-10 in the M5 & M6 has won the top honors in engine of the year for the last 2 years running. Simply an amazing piece of work.

The answer to that is quite simple actually, it's all about the transmission and the cars' respective gear ratios. The BMW obviously having the edge in top end thanks to the larger ratio and more importantly don't forget it has an extra gear to play around with than the Lambo. It's still a good question that many people are perplexed about judging by the comments, but for the answer look no further than the trannys. The M6 is a stunning machine, more of a GT than pure sports car of course, but still able to outrun a Lambo Gallardo in acceleration. Bad-freakin-ass. If I could own only ONE car to live with, any car, it would be a BMW M6.

The Gallardo is mid-engine, the same as a Ferrari F430.

Am I the only one who doesn't quite get that? 2 cars with very similar output engines (500bhp m6 and 496? bhp lambo), both v10's, both n/a, but on weighs near on 2000kg's (bmw) and the other closer too 1500kg. A gallardo should really be walking that surely. Perhaps the M6 wasn't totally standard? Oh, and that (mid not rear) engined lambo is the same layout as a 430 ferrari. Which is rwd. Which helps you to spin. Nice vid tho
