Respect to the 3.4 but yea, beating a non-intercooled GN or T-Type is not much to write home about. Non ic turbos of this vintage made about 190 horse. The ICed Grand Nationals are significantly stronger. Then there is the GNX, but that's another story. I doubt this one was running 17psi with any turbo or intercooler. Sorry.

Besides intercooled or not, if he is running 17psi without blowing it up, then he should be able to beat the car in the vid.

Yeah, everyone has a story.. Post proof and then I'll keep my foot in my mouth. Don't tell me about research, because you don't have a clue about what I know. Yes, I have encountered intercooled GN's before, you just must have had that special one from the factory I guess.. (sarcasim)

This is NOT an intercooled Grand National. They were manufactured in 1986 and 1987 only. This GN has early model aluminum wheels and notice the lack of the intercooled emblem under the GN fender emblem? By the way, badASS98, I have owned both a stock '87 GN (13.91 @ 97 MPH at 700 ft elevation) and a SLIGHTLY modded '86 which I spent ONLY $1,400 on that ran a best E.T. of 11.41 @ 118 MPH. I like LS1's but trust me, there is no way you can modify your car from bone-stock and run mid-elevens spending only $1,400! The 11 sec. car of mine got 20/16 MPG HWY/CITY. Not bad for an automatic 6 cylinder. Perhaps you need to do more research before you put your foot in your mouth again. You just happened to never encounter a properly running INTERCOOLED but stock GN. When I say stock, I mean STOCK down to the Jiffy Lube (Purolator) air filter in the stock airbox!

turbo1dr is right. Maybe a mid 15 for the GN.. People think stock GN's are fast. They can be made to be fast, but stock they are not.

Love seeing the forlorn J-bodies get some love. It's funny to see people disbelieve that an engine swap and boost makes these compact cars so quick. About time it's done to something other than a 240 or Civic hatch. Feel kinda sad for the GN owner though. Now post some more kills! Thanks.

You morons realize that Cavalier dyno'd 360+WHP and even more torque, right ?
Research before you start jumping to your stupid conclusions.

How about that! You did do your homework last night before you shot that vi deo. You can go out and play some more until it gets dark. On a good day, that NON-INTERCOOLED GN M-I-G-H-T run a mid 15's in the quarter. Please do n't kid yourself into thinking you just boosted your ego. <rolleyes>

Very nice kill... First a N/A 3400 in a car as light as a cavalier wil l have traction problems without any mods. stock you would be running high 16 seconds maybe even low 17s at sea level. With P&P on the heads, UI M, LIM, full exhaust, seriously DHP Powrtuned (or use a HPtuner) might jus t pull off a LOW 14 second run, if it can launch without spinning the tire s. . . . . With the turbo I would really like to see a non rolling st art between the GN and the cavalier. The GN will probably win or at least do better than what he did. The older GNs did not rev very far (I used to build the engines for runs up Pikes Peak) like 5k max. the GN probably was n't in it's powerband.
