Yea, stalling the converter, definetley and auto. New car like that would have pulled the power off anyways before letting it go into gear.

Man wtf.... Is that an auto? Sure sounded like one to me... Little delay between gears, no noticable gap between 2-3, no shift noise.... Why would you do a drop into drive from neutral, at 3k RPM? You're gonna kill your tranny that way.
