There were 2 people driving Rex's car that day (him and his wife). Rex was in the car with his wife all morning whenever she would drive. However, in the afternoon sessions, Rex got out to let his wife drive alone. During that run, she spun out going through the finish line and wrapped the passenger side of the car around a light-pole. The damage extended all the way to the center of the car. If Rex had been in the car, he would probably be dead, or severely injured.

We are very fortunate that there was only one person in the car when the accident occurred. If there had been a passenger in the front seat, the passenger would have died in the accident. Some may call it luck (to not have someone in the front passenger seat during the accident), but I think God had a role. I am sad to see Rex's car destroyed, but I am glad that Rex is still alive!
